Everyone should strive to be a Barnabas, pursue a Paul and train a Timothy, we just think it should involve a duck blind…

about-duckhuntPure and simple the “Duck Brothers” are a group of good friends that enjoy the fellowship of one another. We look for opportunities to share our passion with other brothers alike (Barnabas), to mentor the younger generation (Timothy), and to seek wisdom and guidance from the generation before (Paul). In this capacity we not only share our enthusiasm for hunting, but also strive to be life witnesses for those we come in contact with.

You get to know a lot about a person starting the day off very early in the morning and spending time in cramped quarters amongst ill weather conditions. Some would wonder what is at the heart of a duck hunter. We believe our heart is right where Christ would like it. Jesus spent a lot of time with ordinary men that were his disciples (Acts 4:13) while he walked the earth. We like to think we are very similar to those “fisher’s of men”. As disciples of Christ, and through our fellowship with each other, we challenge ourselves to find ways in which we can spread the message. Our passion for waterfowl hunting gives us that opportunity in a very natural setting.

about-ducksProverbs 12:27 says, “The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.” God is telling us that success afield happens though great preparation, but he also wants us to apply that to our lives. We can be very bountiful in the marsh, but the opportunities we have to fellowship together can provide greater bounty beyond duck season.

As any duck hunter knows, location, camo, and decoys can set the mood, but the call can seal the deal. Jesus has given us many blessings. He’s set the mood. We just need to commit to his call. He tells us in Matthew 28:19, to “…go and make disciples of all nations…” That’s our plan, and this is the way we believe we should do it.
